Software Engineer · AI Researcher
Shazeb Wani
I build full-stack products and research the machine learning systems behind them — a Computer Science senior at Georgia Tech, founder of Univo, and a contributor to a GECCO 2026 paper on LLM-guided neural architecture search.
I'm a Computer Science student at Georgia Tech — concentrating in Intelligence & Information Internetworks, graduating December 2026 — working at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI: building production systems and researching where machine learning models can (and can't) be trusted.
I'm the founder of Univo, and I've interned as a software engineer at Fannie Mae and Hachi. On the research side, I'm a contributor to a GECCO 2026 paper on LLM-guided neural architecture search, and I spent last year red-teaming LLMs as an Algoverse Research Fellow.
Outside of code, I founded SCOV, a free computer-science outreach program that's reached 200+ students across the DMV, and I serve as Finance Principal for Georgia Tech's Muslim Student Association.
Where I've built things
-
Jun 2026 – Aug 2026Software Development Engineer Intern, Hedge AccountingFannie Mae
- Built an AWS/Python regression-testing framework for hedge-accounting models, replacing a half-day manual process with a 5-minute automated run across 10 datasets (~50x faster).
- Engineered data-capture and comparison tooling across S3, DynamoDB, and SQL-scripted Parquet outputs, validating 4 data-validation methodologies in a single automated run.
- Owned debugging and root-cause analysis across CI-integrated regression suites, hardening production QA reliability ahead of releases.
-
Aug 2025 – PresentUndergraduate Researcher — Contributor, GECCO 2026 paperAutomated Algorithm Design VIP, Georgia Tech
- Developed LLM-guided surrogate models that encode neural architectures as PyTorch code and embed them with a frozen CodeLlama model, eliminating expensive NAS-specific fine-tuning.
- Integrated the surrogate into the BANANAS search algorithm on NAS-Bench-201, cutting evaluations needed to reach a near-optimal CIFAR-100 architecture by 34%.
- Ran 100-trial cross-validation on H100/HPC clusters across the full 15,625-architecture search space.
-
Jul 2025 – Jan 2026Research FellowAlgoverse Research Fellowship
- Built PyTorch and HarmBench evaluation benchmarks measuring LLM robustness and adversarial attack transferability across multiple jailbreak categories.
- Developed a hybrid red-teaming method blending automated and human-generated jailbreaking, matching the DAN baseline on HarmBench evaluations.
-
May 2025 – PresentFounder / Full-Stack EngineerUnivo (Startup)
- Built a cross-platform marketplace in React Native and Node.js — listings, search, filtering, and end-to-end payment flows.
- Implemented Stripe transaction pipelines with Express.js webhooks, handling retries and idempotency for reliable payments.
- Designed object-oriented TypeScript REST APIs on Firebase for real-time sync across clients.
-
Jan 2025 – Jul 2025Software Engineer InternHachi LLC
- Built a post-meeting analytics dashboard for a Zoom App with near-real-time (<3s) updates across 100+ active users.
- Integrated the Zoom SDK and OAuth 2.0, securely managing data and access tokens for 200+ active accounts.
- Optimized backend services with REST APIs and Redis caching, cutting request overhead 40%+.
-
Dec 2024 – PresentFinance PrincipalGeorgia Tech Muslim Student Association
- Leading a 10-person team managing a $30K budget and financial operations for 240+ members and 300+-attendee events.
- Delivered major annual events at ~20% of the prior year's cost while maintaining event quality.
-
Aug 2022 – PresentFounderSCOV
- Founded and scaled a free computer-science outreach program to 200+ students (grades 3–9) across 3 DMV counties, doubling summer enrollment year over year.
- Independently designed and taught a Scratch, JavaScript, and web-development curriculum across 3 cohorts a year.
Things I've shipped & explored

Student marketplace app with authentication, listings, and Stripe payments.

Live-meeting Zoom App with in-meeting analytics, OAuth-protected routes, and low-latency Redis rollups.

Social platform linked to workouts, using the Gemini API for personalized routine recommendations. Not yet built.

Flask-based funeral-services app with an OpenEMR-integrated backend, built & deployed for Masjid Al-Farooq.

Researching systematic jailbreaks that induce biased outputs, and building an evaluation harness to measure them.

Sentinel-2 segmentation pipeline tuned with AdamW & Dice/Tversky losses — +13% accuracy, ~21% faster convergence.

Evolving hybrid algorithms from human baselines with genetic programming, on Georgia Tech's Automated Algorithm Design VIP.
